Our Griddle Plates for Weber Kettle Charcoal Grills are made from 7 gauge cold-rolled steel (3/16" thick). These griddle plates allow you to use your grill as a griddle and add versatility to your outdoor cooking equipment.Our design features an edge that allows you to scrape food up against it to aid in lifting. It also prevents food from rolling off the griddle and into the coals. The griddle plate allows you to lift up the hinged portion of the cooking grate to give access to your coals to better control the heat. Can be used with or without cooking grate.Available for 18-inch, 22.5-inch and 26.75-inch Weber products. Can be used on Weber kettles, Weber smokers, and the 22.5-inch size can be used on UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker) style cookers.The griddle plates come unseasoned. Seasoning is required to build up a non-stick surface.Seasoning Instructions: You’ll need a neutral vegetable oil (flaxseed oil, vegetable oil, soybean oil, etc.) or a product like Crisbee or Buzzy Waxx. You’ll also need some paper towels or a clean rag and tongs to apply it.Step 1: Wash your item with hot, soapy water. This will remove any oils or dust from manufacturing and shipping.Step 2: Preheat your item to around 400 degrees (F). You can do this by starting a batch of charcoal and spreading it evenly on the charcoal grate. Use the bottom and dome vent to adjust the temperature of the grill.Step 3: Apply a very thin layer of your seasoning oil/seasoning product using the paper towels or rag and tongs. Let this oil burn into the metal until it stops smoking. This usually takes 15-20 minutes.Step 4: Repeat step 3 at least 2 more times. The more coats the better. Over time, you will develop a dark, shiny coating.Step 5: Get cooking!
