Also, since it has sides that fit the entire cooktop, the chance of wind or rain getting under it is low. Does this cover work with the rear grease unit? Yes the hard lid will fit over the rear grease unit. Can I cook when the griddle lid is closed? Yes, when you close the griddle lid, you can use it as a gas grill, the food will cook faster under the closed heating. Does it keep the surface from rust? The griddle lid prevents the entry of rain and dust, effectively reducing the possibility of rust, but requires regular maintenance, make sure to apply a layer of oil to the top of the baking pan after cleaning and before covering. Can you use this cover when cooking like to melt cheese etc? When using the grill, you can put the ingredients in the container and put them on the griddle lid top to heat, but it is not recommended because of the possibility of burns.
